F Date

Hi everyone! As you can probably tell we took a LONG break from this blog! With the pandemic and having a baby, dating sometimes gets put to the back burner… But with a bright new year ahead, we are wanting to get back to it! Our posts will now include date ideas for the whole family, as well as fun activities you can do from your own home.

The letter F can be so FUN! We decided to play tourists in our own backyard and sign up a food tour in the farm to fork capitol, Sacramento. After this date we actually decided to make it a tradition at any new city we visit. A food tour takes you to all the best local restaurants that are frequented by the locals and gives you a glance of some new local flavors.

We selected the popular Farm to Table Midtown Tour where we explored beautiful Midtown while learning about the farm to fork movement and tasted different cuisines of some of the top local chefs. We stopped at 5 different restaurants which I’ve heard vary depending on the day. I absolutely fell in love with our drunken noodle stop at Thai Basil. Our guide also took us back to the exact dive bar spot where my hubby and I first met, The Golden Bear. Who knew they have amazing food (try their Your My Boy Bleu pizza) there and not just drinks! The tour started with coffee at the famous Temple Coffee and ended at Rick’s Dessert Dinner.

Along the way, our foodie guide shared local history stories and taught us about Midtown’s rich arts scene! Besides the food, seeing the beautiful murals and art along our walk was our highlight. It also helped us digest all the food we were stuffing our faces with too. There are so many tours to choose from, so select the one that works best for you and your families dietary needs or schedules! I actually took my foodie girlfriend on a food tour when she came to visit and it was the perfect way to introduce her to all the best parts of Sacramento. And to be honest, you can always make your own food tour up by looking up on Yelp or asking friends the best dishes to try at their favorite restaurants. Make sure you come hungry and wear your stretchy pants!

Other cities we highly recommend food tours at are: Miami, Dallas, Chicago, Santa Fe, and Nashville.

And here are some other F Date ideas to consider:

F: Farmers Market, Farm Tour, Flea Market, Frisbee Golf, Foosball, Fishing, Frog Hunting, Four Wheeling, Factory Tour, Fear Factor Date, Food Cookoff, Build a Fort, Films, Fancy Night Out, Five Star Restaurant, Fishing, Festival, Fair, Football Game, Favorite Things (your favorite things to do together), Fireworks, Fondue, Flying Lesson, Fark 2 Fork, Finger Painting, Fire (like a bonfire or firepit with smores), Flower or Fruit Picking, Fashion Show, Visiting a Farm, Floating, Fitness Class, and French Cuisine.

E DATE

Hi everyone! As you can probably tell we took a LONG break from this blog! With the pandemic and having a baby, dating sometimes gets put to the back burner… But with a new bright year ahead, we are wanting to get back to it! Our posts will now include date ideas for the whole family, as well as fun activities you can do from your own home. With that being said, here’s some inspiration for ‘E’ themed date ideas:

E: Escape Room, Elephant Sanctuary, Exercise, Ebay, Early Bird Date (watch the sunrise), European Cuisine, English Pub, Easter Egg Hunt, Exotic Animal Park, Expo, Exhibit, Exam, East, Emu, El Dorado, Elk Grove, Empire State Mine, Email, Eat

With our love for animals, we decided to do an elephant sanctuary in the Northern California area. Vision Quest Safari Bed & Breakfast was the perfect overnight date to submerse yourself in another world. This safari themed bed and breakfast allows you to spend the night in the park in your very own African-themed tent style bungalow and is as close to Africa as you can get in for folks in the USA. It’s kind of perfect if you want to safari experience without the risks of traveling. Bungalows are available for couples and families (kids must be 4+) and you can choose the best size that fits your family’s needs. We stayed in the Giraffe Manor which was perfect for the two of us. Not only do you get to listen to the lions and tigers roaring only yards from your suite, but you also get breakfast delivered by your very own elephant. Our breakfast was dropped off on our front porch and in turn we got to feed our elephant their morning meal.

This B&B is attached to the Monterey Zoo so once you spend the night, you can wakeup to meet all the other animals. The Monterey Zoo is open 10am-3pm daily and your admission there is complimentary with your stay. You’ll also be minutes from several of Monterey’s Cannery Row, Pebble Beach, and the 17 Mile Drive!

This was one of our favorite overnight dates we have ever done! For other Sacramento-area E date ideas we suggest a local English pub. Downtown Sacramento have two great ones including Streets of London and Fox & Goose British Pubs. Fox & Goose makes a delicious brunch for the whole family and has lots of outdoor seating.

Hope this helps inspire you to do something fun! Let me know your thoughts on any other ideas you have that would fall under the letter E! I’d love to hear all of them!
