C stands for classic! Well at least we went towards that direction with our C Date. This date was planned by yours truly, and was split into two different events. While we were visiting LA for the weekend to see Jimmy Kimmel Live and Disneyland with family, we added in this extra stop.

C is for candy store! Have you ever heard of SWEET! Candy Factory?

It’s located off Hollywood Boulevard, and is heaven for kids and adults. Reed was a literally a kid in a candy store as we went room to room sampling candy and picking out unique flavors in all forms of sugar. They had beer and bacon flavored cotton candy, candy through the decades, and ‘Design Your Own Candy Bar’ Station.

Design your own candy bar!? We were just a curious as you probably are after reading that! It’s like Subway, but for a candy… You can choose the chocolate (white, dark, milk), the filling (peanut butter, caramel, fruit) and then 4 additional toppings to go inside (such as cookie dough, other candy, nuts, sea salt, etc.). The combinations were endless and probably one of the best candy bars I’ve ever had. They take about 30 minutes to make and they even wrap them in gold foil wrapping like Charlie and the Chocolate Factory! If you visit SWEET!, make sure you leave yourself about 45 minutes to an hour exploring inside.

Our part two to ‘C Date’ was a date night at the cinema. We picked the Tower Theatre to watch the must-see movie of the season, LADY BIRD by Greta Gerwig. It’s a coming-of-age story for a seventeen year old woman who lives in Sacramento.  She applies for college, breaks up with her first boyfriend and deals with all those awkward teenage milestones we ALL can relate to.

It’s been nominated for five Academy Awards and rated the highest movie ever on Rotten Tomatoes… Need I say more to convince you?!  Boy did it live up to the reviews!  Please go see it if you haven’t already gone — it’s worth your time. Make sure to bring tissues too. As a local, it makes you proud to be from Sacramento, and showcases the beautiful landmarks we have surrounding us every day.
